MPGL 8 SEA Championship (Selangor Cyber Games 2016)


The Mineski Pro Gaming League once again returned to Sengalor for the SEA Finals.

The tournament had 10 teams from around the region competing for ultimate bragging rights and a huge chunk of the $50,000 prize pool. The event was held in The Square, One City, Subang Jaya, Selangor. The Square is a posh mall located amidst towering condominiums in a downtown area that struck the perfect balance of accessibility and quality.

A world-class broadcast talent spearheaded by David “Godz’ Parker was flown in from the event. Then up-and-coming hype caster Owen “ODPixel” Davies, former pro player Chan “Winter” Litt Bin. Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, Muhammad “Flava” Farouq, and Danelie Purdue rounded up the broadcast team. Filipino-Polish Eri Neeman was also our stage host for the event.

While the event was a star-studded event from the broadcast perspective, its competing teams were no less famous, especially to the dedicated Southeast Asian Dota 2 fans. Fnatic’s Jimmy ”DeMoN“ Ho, MVP.Phoenix’s Kim “Qo” Seon-Yeop, White Fries Gaming’s Benedict “hyhy” Lim, and Execration’s Abed Yusop won the hearts of the collective Dota 2 community in our corner of the world. Execration eventually bested Korean side MVP.Phoenix in a thrilling series to win the MPGL 8 SEA Finals

As the last MPGL SEA Finals we produced, we’re happy to say that it capped off an incredible eight seasons of successful tournaments that truly gave aspiring esports athletes in the region their chance to “Rise From The Rest”.
