ROG Masters 2017 APAC Finals
After successfully finishing the ROG Masters 2016 tournament the year prior, this year we delivered an even bigger tournament in the ROG Masters 2017 APAC Finals.
The tournament was the Asia-Pacific leg of this year’s larger, now worldwide ROG Masters season, and we held it at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay, Metro Manila. The expanded tournament saw eight top Asia-Pacific teams from Dota 2 and from CS:GO duking it out for a slot in the world finals.

We are also proud to say that it was the successful international debut of our partner MineskiTV’s Aldrin “Dunoo” Pangan, Justin ‘Vill” Villaseran, and Jiro “Nomad” Pineda as part of the cast of ineternational hosts and commentators.
We successfully delivered on presenting the ROG Masters 2017 to a local audience that delighted in being a part of the Asia-Pacific leg of the global tournament. Dota 2’s WarriorsGaming.Unity’s eventual first place over favorites TNC Pro Team and Execration, and CS:GO’s 5Power Club’s epic win over Mineski-CS:GO and Grayhound Gaming both stand as testaments to the high quality of competition in the region.
The tournament champions will move on to the ROG Masters world finals in December, 2017.
ESL One Genting 2017
We once again partnered with ESL to help bring their vision of ESL One Genting to fruition with our help as Southeast Asia’s leading esports ourgnizer. The result was the successful premier Dota 2 LAN held in Malaysia’s own Arena of Stars in the Genting Highlands with a $250,000 prize pool.
The reigning TI champs at the time, Wings Gaming, received a direct invite to the event alongside Southeast Asian power team Fnatic and the West’s Digital Chaos, as the first three of eight total competing teams. After a grueling three days of internationally-televised Dota 2 action, an exciting five-game grand finals between Newbee and Digital Chaos saw the US-based international roster of DC winning the grand prize.

The stakes were high for us as well with the event being the first premier Dota 2 tournament of the new year but with the help of the hype Malaysian crowd and the fantastic display of competitive Dota 2 shown at the tournament, we managed to start the year of great esports events right with ESL One Genting.
ROG Masters 2016
We wanted the first-ever ROG Masters to be a stand-out major Asia-Pacific tournament with the strongest Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams in the region.
Powered by ASUS Republic of Gamers and held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the tournament drew representative teams from five Asian regions to compete for a piece of a $150,000 prize pool. Among the twelve participating teams were such internationally-respected Dota 2 teams as Fnatic and Team Secret. The ROG Masters also featured some of the top esports broadcasting talents in the world such as Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner and Toby “TobiWan” Dawson.

The level of competition in both the Dota 2 and the CS:GO events gained the attention of global audiences. The involved Asia-Pacific teams also gained the attention of the world and proved that the east is home to several contender teams ready for the world stage. In fact, the event was such a success that the return of the ROG Masters in 2017 has launched it as a global tournament with top teams not only coming from the Asia-Pacific but now also from the Americas, China, and EMEA.
The first ROG Masters in 2016 saw Team Secret for Dota 2 and The MongolZ for CS:GO be crowned the champions of the east.
MPGL 8 SEA Championship (Selangor Cyber Games 2016)
The Mineski Pro Gaming League once again returned to Sengalor for the SEA Finals.
The tournament had 10 teams from around the region competing for ultimate bragging rights and a huge chunk of the $50,000 prize pool. The event was held in The Square, One City, Subang Jaya, Selangor. The Square is a posh mall located amidst towering condominiums in a downtown area that struck the perfect balance of accessibility and quality.
A world-class broadcast talent spearheaded by David “Godz’ Parker was flown in from the event. Then up-and-coming hype caster Owen “ODPixel” Davies, former pro player Chan “Winter” Litt Bin. Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, Muhammad “Flava” Farouq, and Danelie Purdue rounded up the broadcast team. Filipino-Polish Eri Neeman was also our stage host for the event.

While the event was a star-studded event from the broadcast perspective, its competing teams were no less famous, especially to the dedicated Southeast Asian Dota 2 fans. Fnatic’s Jimmy ”DeMoN“ Ho, MVP.Phoenix’s Kim “Qo” Seon-Yeop, White Fries Gaming’s Benedict “hyhy” Lim, and Execration’s Abed Yusop won the hearts of the collective Dota 2 community in our corner of the world. Execration eventually bested Korean side MVP.Phoenix in a thrilling series to win the MPGL 8 SEA Finals
As the last MPGL SEA Finals we produced, we’re happy to say that it capped off an incredible eight seasons of successful tournaments that truly gave aspiring esports athletes in the region their chance to “Rise From The Rest”.
ESL One Manila
ESL One Manila was MET’s first true international spectacle. Partnering up with ESL, a global leader in esports, gave us the opportunity to take on the largest scale tournament we had ever organized.
ESL One Manila invited three internationally-renowned teams. Qualifiers were then held from the Americas to Europe to the Philippines to make sure that every major region was represented. The event was held at the prestigious Mall of Asia Arena in front of thousands of fans. Throughout the three day event, the hype from the crowd was remarkable.
ESL One Manila also boasted the highest prize pool of a MET involved tournament to date with a whopping $250,000 prize pool to be split among the tournament’s top finishers. ESL One Manila featured even bigger broadcast stars as it flew in Toby “Tobiwan” Dawson, Owen “ODPixel” Davies, Kevin “Purge” Godec, and Ben “Merlini” Wu to name a few. The event also brought in a dedicated observer and stats guy to further enrich the event. Esports comedian Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner also graced the event making the moments in between the games even more entertaining. To this day, the event is considered to be one of Dota 2’s all-time best events.
Up-and-coming Chinese team Wings Gaming bested European squad Team Liquid in the Finals. To many’s surprise the best-of-five grand finals ended very quickly in Wings Gaming favor as they easily swept the boys from Team Liquid, foreshadowing their The International win later that year. Their first true international claim to fame however, was in the Philippines, and we are proud to have been a part of it.
