MPGL All Set to Make Its Comeback This June
One of Southeast Asia’s most fabled esports leagues expands to cater more of Asia
After over a year of hiatus, one of Dota’s oldest and most storied leagues is ready to take over the region once more.
MET is pleased to announce the return of its flagship league, the MPGL.
Founded in 2010, the MPGL was conceived in order to prepare Filipino players for the world stage. With its success in doing so, it has been expanded to take a larger role in Southeast Asian Esports in 2014, culminating in the 2016 SEA Championships.
But now, it’s become even bigger than before, with eleven countries taking part in the latest chapter of the MPGL.
For the past few months, we and our local partners have been organizing and running National Leagues, to find the most promising Dota players their country has to offer, those with the potential to be the next generation of superstars, if you will.
Indonesia (IPGL) and Malaysia (MESL) were the first to launch their National Leagues, while Thailand (TEPL), and Vietnam (VPGL), were quick to follow. This weekend will see the conclusion of the Philippines’ PPGL, with India, Australia, Cambodia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Laos all set to unveil their own gauntlets in the following weekends.
This weekend, we’ll be concluding the PPGL, the Philippines’ first large-scale multi-platform esports league.
The winners of all these National Leagues move on to the regular season of MPGL Asian Championship this June, with the top three teams moving on to the Grand Finals, to be held in Thailand later this year.
“As the competitive Dota scene continues to evolve around Valve’s Pro Circuit, it has been necessary for MET to recalibrate the MPGL to make sure it remains relevant to our community here in Southeast Asia.
“This new MPGL is designed to do just that, with our focus now in enabling players here in Asia to better compete with what the rest of the world has to offer through a program designed to consistently and continuously facilitate their growth as players, from the local qualifiers, to the National Leagues, all the way up to the MPGL Asia Championship”
– Danny Chang, MET General Manager

MET Expands to Digital Creatives and Media Services
After almost ten years of successful esports events, from neighborhood tournaments to international leagues, MET is proud to announce the official opening of its Media Services arm to external clients.
MET’s Media Services and Digital Creatives teams are comprised of experts that know the esports audience better than traditional marketing agencies and other non-specialized PR firms. Though MET is traditionally known for its league operations, logistics, and event production teams, it is the media services and digital creative members of the MET that work behind the scenes to ensure that the esports event that reaches general audiences is as exciting as it can be.
First among the MET’s flagship projects is Mineski.net, Southeast Asia’s oldest and most trusted esports news and features journal, which will be offering sponsored content creation as part of our expanded list of services, alongside its current mandate of fresh and unbiased Southeast Asian esports reporting. Also among the team’s most successful projects have been the digital marketing campaigns behind the Manila Masters 2017, Vainglory Worlds 2017, and last year’s Philippine coverage of Dota 2’s The International 7.
With strategic high-quality content, strong social media presence, and new production capabilities in video production, event photography, and asset management, MET looks to further define itself as the go-to organization for all your esports audience activation needs.
This is only the latest chapter in MET’s evolving brand, and 2018 is only looking more ambitious for the storied esports organization.
