ROG Masters 2016

We wanted the first-ever ROG Masters to be a stand-out major Asia-Pacific tournament with the strongest Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams in the region.

Powered by ASUS Republic of Gamers and held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the tournament drew representative teams from five Asian regions to compete for a piece of a $150,000 prize pool. Among the twelve participating teams were such internationally-respected Dota 2 teams as Fnatic and Team Secret. The ROG Masters also featured some of the top esports broadcasting talents in the world such as Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner and Toby “TobiWan” Dawson.

The level of competition in both the Dota 2 and the CS:GO events gained the attention of global audiences. The involved Asia-Pacific teams also gained the attention of the world and proved that the east is home to several contender teams ready for the world stage. In fact, the event was such a success that the return of the ROG Masters in 2017 has launched it as a global tournament with top teams not only coming from the Asia-Pacific but now also from the Americas, China, and EMEA.

The first ROG Masters in 2016 saw Team Secret for Dota 2 and The MongolZ for CS:GO be crowned the champions of the east.
